assumed a national leadership role with the Council of Deans of the Association of American Medical Colleges. He is dean of the VCU School of Medicine and executive vice president for medical affairs for VCU Health System.
Paula Ferrada, M.D.
was elected chair of the Young Fellows Association of the American College of Surgeons and secretary of the Panamerican Trauma Society. She is a professor of surgery in the VCU School of Medicine and director of the VCU Surgical Critical Care Fellowship.
Lydia Jones Johnson, M.D.
was appointed chair of the Department of Dermatology in the VCU School of Medicine. She joined the faculty of VCU's Department of Dermatology in January 2018 and has served as the interim department chair since June 2018.
Jin Lee, M.D.
joined Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU as chief of pediatric cardiology. She arrived to Richmond from the Hospital for Sick Children of Toronto, and has been involved in the development of pediatric heart programs internationally.
Natalie Pennywell
joined VCU Health Hub at 25th as its inaugural site director. She comes to VCU Health from the Virginia Department of Health, bringing with her more than a decade of experience in community outreach and health education.
Patricia Sime, M.D.
was named chair of the Department of Internal Medicine in the VCU School of Medicine. She previously served as division chief of pulmonary and critical care and vice chair for research in the Department of Medicine at the University of Rochester.
A $500,000 research award
granted through the U.S. Department of Defense was bestowed to Michael McClure, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in VCU's College of Engineering, to explore how neurotization - the process of nerve transfer - could help patients regain use of severely damaged muscles.
