Athletics
For many, athletics is a window into the university. They learn about VCU through our success in sports — including, this year, an NCAA tournament appearance and Colonial Athletic Association championship for the men’s basketball team as well as CAA titles in women’s soccer and men’s and women’s tennis — and then take a closer look at and see outstanding academics, research and service.
That is why VCU jumped at the chance to join the Atlantic 10 Conference, one of the nation’s largest and most respected athletic leagues. The university has moved up to where it belongs in terms of competition, peer universities (athletically and otherwise) and large-market presence. VCU begins playing in the A-10 this fall after 17 seasons in the CAA.
