Safety first initiative

VCU Medical Center strives to be the safest health system in the nation. That is the goal behind the “Safety First. Every Day.” initiative, and it is becoming a reality.

The number of serious safety incidents continues to drop, now averaging about four per 10,000 adjusted patient days. Progress has come in part because of increased communication efforts and more staffing of key medical personnel at key times.
