Since 2008, 46 nonprofit agencies in Richmond have sought out VCU students and faculty mentors during its annual CreateAthon onCampus to help get their message out through free professional marketing materials and advice.

In March, another 12 nonprofits tapped into the 24-hour creative blitz, which featured students from the schools of Mass Communications and the Arts, as well as Virginia State University’s art and design program, walking away with fresh ideas and renewed hope that they can better connect with resources and serve people in need.

Since its inception, CreateAthon participants have doled out marketing materials and guidance valued at more than $700,000.
